In 1964, Northland was one of the original companies licensed by Dupont to utilize Teflon.
The Bundt pan was created in 1950. However, it became a raging success in 1966 after winning the Texas Bake-Off with the Tunnel of Fudge cake. In 1970, the company licensed Pillsbury to produce the Bundt cake mix line adding to the success of Bundt bakeware pan sales.
The company boasts the creation of automated aluminum dye cast technology (1972) establishing Nordic Ware as a leading cast aluminum bakeware manufacturer as well as thermoset plastic molding technology (1978) which performs well in both traditional ovens and microwaves.
Also worth mentioning is the creation of the Micro-Go-Round, developed as a food rotator for microwave ovens, which was patented in 1980. In 1984 the first and only microwave pressure cooker was developed, and in 1987 the company developed porcelain enamel and nonstick finishes applied to aluminum bakeware and cookware. The first carbon block water filter was developed in 1990 for faucets which removed lead, mercury and cysts.
These are just a few of the many successful product lines brought to market by a well established company.
